Athletics

At North Star Academy Laval, our athletics program is designed to inspire students to develop their physical abilities, embrace teamwork, and foster a lifelong commitment to health and wellness. Through a diverse range of sports and activities, we provide opportunities for students at all skill levels to engage in competitive and recreational athletics, building resilience, leadership, and a strong sense of school spirit.

Our program integrates various athletic initiatives, ensuring that students can participate in multiple ways:

Competitive Athletics: Varsity Teams & RSEQ

North Star Academy Laval proudly competes in the Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec (RSEQ), offering students the chance to represent our school in high-level competition. As members of the NSAL Polar Bears, student-athletes demonstrate discipline, perseverance, and sportsmanship while competing against schools across the region. Our varsity teams include:

  • Basketball
  • Futsal Soccer
  • Volleyball
  • Track & Field
  • Cross-Country

Extracurricular & Fitness Initiatives

Beyond our varsity teams, NSAL provides different athletic opportunities to ensure all students can participate in physical activity:

  • Intramural Sports: Organized lunchtime and after-school sports, allowing students to engage in friendly competition in sports like soccer, basketball, badminton, volley ball & floor hockey.
  • Fillactive: Encouraging young women to stay active through fitness challenges and group activities.

 Physical Education Curriculum

Our Physical Education program, offered from Grades 7 to 11, focuses on developing students’ athletic skills, knowledge of movement, and understanding of lifelong fitness. Each year, students are introduced to new sports and physical activities, expanding their abilities while learning the importance of teamwork, health, and wellness.

Grade 7: Introduction to foundational athletic techniques through sports such as soccer, badminton, lacrosse, and fitness training. Focus on skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

Grade 8: Continued athletic growth with an emphasis on basketball, cosom hockey, baseball, track & field, and fitness. Students also explore aspects of the musculoskeletal system and kinesthetic feedback.

Grade 9: Specialization in sports such as badminton, volleyball, ultimate frisbee, and resistance training, alongside a focus on cardiovascular endurance and CPR training.

Grade 10 & 11: Advanced physical education courses with a focus on refining athletic abilities, strength training, strategic gameplay, and leadership development.

At North Star Academy Laval, we believe that athletics are more than just sports—they are a gateway to developing confidence, discipline, and a healthy lifestyle. Whether through competitive teams, fitness initiatives, or physical education classes, every student has the opportunity to thrive in an active and supportive environment.
